Microcement FAQs
It varies by area size, substrate condition and finish, but microcement typically sits in a similar bracket to good mid-to-premium tiling once you factor in labour — with the advantage of far less ongoing grout maintenance. We give a fixed, itemised quote after a site visit, not a vague "from" price.
In most cases, yes — provided the existing tiles are sound, well-bonded and not badly cracked. We check this on site before quoting. It saves a full strip-out and speeds the whole job up considerably.
Properly prepared and reinforced microcement is designed to flex slightly with the substrate rather than crack like a rigid tile. Correct primer, mesh reinforcement where needed, and expansion detailing at movement joints are what make the difference — which is exactly what our process covers.
A typical bathroom runs 3–6 working days once prep starts, including coats and sealing time. Larger floors or full renovations take longer — we'll give you a realistic timeline as part of your quote.
Day to day, a damp cloth or mop with a pH-neutral cleaner is all it needs — no grout to scrub. We recommend a re-seal every couple of years in wet areas to keep the protective layer performing at its best; we can handle that for you or talk you through it.
